Himanshu Mishra
Senior Software Engineer — distributed systems, multi-runtime execution engines and sandbox isolation. Based in Varanasi, India.
Current role
Primary architect of the Cortex Universal Execution Engine at Rival.io — the multi-tier Function-as-a-Service engine behind CortexOne. It runs untrusted Python, JavaScript, Lua, WASM and CUDA across four isolation tiers: in-process workers, container pools, Firecracker microVMs and full-VM sandboxes, with NATS JetStream job delivery and gRPC orchestration. I also built its MCP (Model Context Protocol) execution service, which powers AI agent and workflow authoring on the platform.
Previously
Sole engineer (1,500+ commits) on a multi-tenant biometric attendance platform at EI Networks, deployed across seven enterprise and government clients and load-tested to 10M+ employee records. Replaced a Python MQTT middleware with an integrated Node.js service for 100,000+ face-recognition devices, cutting punch sync from 4 seconds to 400 milliseconds. Built a WebSocket server load-tested to 20,000+ concurrent connections.
Projects
- Cortex Universal Execution Engine — multi-tier FaaS engine behind CortexOne.
- MCP execution service — Model Context Protocol service for AI agents and workflows.
- Elixia — decentralized document authentication on Ethereum.
Case studies
- Running untrusted code safely, at four levels of isolation
- 4 seconds to 400 ms: breaking a retransmit loop across 100K devices
- Finding 40% of a database's load in one polling loop
Currently building at Rival.io and not looking for a change.
